The Concept

With their new venture, Roo’s House, Julie, and Tara have created a unique way of helping you achieve a cohesive and timeless interior design look through soft furnishings and wallpaper, all from the comfort of your home.

The concept is to make reviving a room, or piece of furniture, with fabrics and wallpaper effortless, affordable, convenient, and most importantly, accessible to everyone.

Julie and Tara’s mission is to empower individuals to embrace the enjoyment of interior design, allowing them to express their unique, distinctive style, and reminding us all that beauty truly starts at home.

With their interior design expertise, they will make a personalised selection of coordinating fabrics and wallpapers, or you can buy from their ready-made collections. These have been designed to compliment any room, or items of furniture and demonstrate the importance and benefits of a cohesive palette.

Whichever option you choose, each fabric is meticulously selected with a nod to versatility, usage, and overall balance of colour, patterns, and textures, all of which complement one another. These carefully curated collections will inspire and transform any space, providing a sense of rejuvenation and contentment.

Tara and Julie - Roo's House

Our Story

Roo's House began after a chance meeting one crisp winter’s morning on a dog walk in the Hambleden Valley and became the start of a wonderful intergenerational friendship. Julie and Tara’s excitement for design is contagious, and they hope to inspire others to make conscious choices when it comes to decorating their homes. Their love for Roo’s House is evident in every detail, from the carefully curated collections to the personal touches, which makes their brand unique.

Over countless cups of tea, they identified a significant gap in the market, which they both had a compelling desire to change. Over time this evolved into Roo’s House, named after Tara’s son, who accompanied them on most meetings!

Julie, an interior designer of 25 years, and Tara, specialising in E-commerce, recognised they had the collective expertise and drive to turn this vision into a reality.

But it’s not just about the services they offer or collections they sell; it’s about the people behind the brand. Julie and Tara have formed a bond that goes beyond business. They have become each other’s sounding board, mentors, as well as friends. The 20-year age difference is irrelevant, as they learn from each other and grow together. Their story is a reminder that it’s never too late to follow your passion and pursue your dreams. It’s a testament to the power of friendship and the importance of human connection.

With big plans to expand their offerings, including upcycled furniture, rugs, and interior design workshops, they hope you enjoy following their journey.
